About Us

Learning Cycles Ltd was formed by Trish Kidd and Martha Ash, two New Zealand teachers with many years of teaching experience in both the primary and secondary area. They are dedicated to 'best practice' in teaching! Together Trish and Martha have developed and published products focused on pre-planned, regular, cyclic review.


All Learning Cycles resources provide the necessary tools for maintaining learning so as to raise student achievement. Such review is confidence-building for both students and teachers. These resources ensure the New Zealand curriculum is being covered and all skills reviewed.

Trish and Martha have introduced Maths Mate, Heads Up and Class Starters to USA.

Trish Kidd

Trish is a primary-trained teacher who moved to high school to teach mathematics. She eventually headed the department. She received a Woolf Fisher Fellowship for teaching mathematics, and was recognised by her local community with a scholarship for excellence in teaching.

The Woolf Fisher Fellowship took her to Australia where she discovered Maths Mate. She introduced this to her class, her school and to New Zealand.

Trish earned the Ernest Duncan award for excellence in classroom teaching for the mathematics Class Starter series.

Martha Ash

Martha is primary-trained and, after a number of years in the classroom, established and ran the successful Learning Outside the Classroom program at Waitomo Museum of Caves. With dedication to best teaching practice similar to Trish, they joined forces and formed Learning Cycles Ltd in 2000

Martha is involved in choral music, and works with her community to produce "Carols in the Cave", an annual Christmas event in the Cathedral of the famous Waitomo Glowworm Cave.
